Wing Commander Brendan (Paddy) Finucane was a highly decorated Irish fighter pilot who served in the Royal Air Force (RAF) during World War II. Finucane quickly established himself as an outstanding pilot and became one of the youngest flying aces in the history of aerial warfare. He is credited with shooting down 32 enemy aircraft during his time in combat, making him one of the most successful pilots of the war. Known for his bravery and daring, he frequently engaged in risky tactics to gain the upper hand in dogfights.
This print recreates his Spitfire MkVb, UD-W (AB852) from 452 Sqn 8. Note the distinctive shamrock on the fuselage with his monogram on the insert which was the trademark artwork on many of the planes he flew.
